Bite me, bitch...

The next step

Hey there. :)

I've posted in here a few times about making my transition from Miami to Nashville and becoming a Lipscomb student. You guys have had great insights and two years later, I've graduated with flying colors.

Now I'm transitioning again. I've decided to stay in Nashville for a few reasons and need to move in with someone. Are any of you looking for a roommate / renting out a space and willing to explore this option? I'll be happy to answer any questions about myself you may have. Otherwise, are there any resources you can direct me to?

I appreciate your thoughts as ever.

Our house off of Eastland in the Shelby Bottoms area was broken into last night and about $4000 worth of electronics were stolen. We're hoping that we'll be able to retrieve at least our 15.4" MacBook Pro with 2.2 GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive; Pentax K10D camera with a Tamron macro 18-200mm lens; Sony Vaio; Playstation 3; and two Nintendo DS Lites, one pink, one red. If anyone happens to see these for sale, can you please comment or message me? I have serial numbers for the computers, camera and PS3 if needed.

Thank you!

Hello again. :)

So I posted here pretty recently and with the help of many great answers, have fallen in love with my school / became genuinely excited about going.

...but I have no idea how to get there. Greyhound doesn't go to Nashville for reasons I'll never understand. My car is a hooptie that will explode before it travels 900 miles and I don't have $500 to pay my friend to fix it, blahblahblah. I'm sure you're noticing a pattern.

Any of you on your way to Florida and back before the 18th? lol -.-

I'm looking for someone able and willing to maintenance my dreadlocks. I've looked up salons and individuals, but they aren't too willing to work with 70 dreads of caucasian hair. I just need someone who I can trust and feel comfortable with pulling in loose hair and tightening my dreads.

24 Hour Zine Challenge

Hi! The 24 Hour Zine Challenge takes place in July (not on a specific day, but during any 24 hour period of your choosing). Read more about it here:

I was wondering if anyone out there was interested in doing this? I'd love to organize an event with some other zinesters here in town!

Hey there.

Lipscomb University made me an offer I couldn't refuse, so I applied and was recently accepted. The thing is, I'm from south Florida and know nothing about Nashville. What I know of LU is based purely on the school's site and let's face it - any school can make itself sound good.

I was wondering if any of you had insider (or even local outsider) info on the school. Is it one of the better/worse schools Nashville has to offer? And what about Nashville itself? Anything interesting I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

Places to dance (square, line, swing, etc.)

So, a friend and I are looking for places to dance. Square dancing, line dancing, swing or ballroom...not clubbing, in other words.

*Free or cheap is best
*We'd be hard-pressed to find guys to go with us, so places/events where you don't necessarily have to bring a partner
*We don't drink and aren't into nightlife. I think I've heard of line dances at some places down on Broadway, but bars make me nervous.
*For square dancing, the only place I found was a senior center in Murfreesboro, whose website mentioned activities for people 60+. We're missing that by about four decades.
*We're beginners. We have some experience all of the above, but it's variable.
*We currently live five minutes from downtown, but have no problem driving out somewhere.

Does anything exist? My family used to go to a weekly free square dance lesson followed by a dance in Virginia (at a senior center, but it wasn't restricted), and I'd love to find something like that.
I have the nagging feeling I've asked this before, but have search the journal for both keywords and my entries, as well as tags and my memories, but can't find anything.
